"Annie's Vocal" (also known as "Annie's Vocal (Y'all Fill My Senses)") is a song in three
4 fourth dimension written and recorded by American vocaliser-songwriter John Denver. The song was released as the lead unmarried from his eighth studio album Dorsum Home Again. "Annie'south Vocal" was written equally an ode to Denver'due south married woman at the time, Annie Martell Denver. Denver "wrote this song in July 1973 in about ten-and-a-half minutes one day on a ski lift" to the top of Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, as the physical exhilaration of having "just skied down a very difficult run" and the feeling of full immersion in the beauty of the colors and sounds that filled all senses inspired him to think nigh his wife.[2] [3] Annie Denver recalls the beginnings: "It was written after John and I had gone through a pretty intense time together and things were pretty skilful for us. He left to get skiing and he got on the Ajax chair on Aspen mount and the song just came to him. He skied downwards and came home and wrote it down... Initially it was a dearest vocal and it was given to me through him, and however for him it became a bit like a prayer."
"The get-go time I heard 'Annie'south Song,' I told John it had the same tune as Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, Second Movement," says Milt Okun. "He walked over to the piano, sat for an hour and came dorsum, and the just thing remaining from Tchaikovsky was the first v notes. Information technology was fantastic."[4]

Shawn Chiliad. Haney of Allmusic noted the song's expressive emotionality, calling information technology an "always so romantic tearjerker". Haney praised "Annie'southward Vocal" as "1 of Denver's finest achievements".[5] Billboard called it a "fine love song."[six]

On July 4, 2016, Ville Valo released a encompass version of "Annie's Vocal" in Finnish, titled "Olet mun kaikuluotain" ("Y'all're My Sonar").[22] The lyrics were by Hector, and the song had previously been recorded in 1976 past Freeman.[22] Ville Valo'due south version was released as a tribute to Finnish label Love Records, who celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2016.[22] Valo's version was likewise the commencement release from the label in over 30 years.[22] Valo commented on the song, stating: "'Kaikuluotain' is a childhood favorite of mine, to the shell of which many a sleepless nighttime ended up in tears. To this twenty-four hours it gives me cold shivers and goosebumps."[22] The vocal would go along to reach number one on the Finnish Download Chart.[23]
Valo'due south version also received a music video, directed by Ykä Järvinen.[24] Released on July 11, 2016, the video features scenes of Valo walking around Helsinki, done in tribute to Aki Kaurismäki'due south film Calamari Matrimony.[24] The video received the Emma Award for Video of the Twelvemonth in 2017.[25]
